This shows the route taken through 16 countries by George and Eileen Yallop between 1960 and 1962. They reached Australia at Christmas 1960, 4 months after setting off from England and crossing Europe and  Asia in between.

They spent the next 8 months in Australia working at various jobs in order to raise the fare for the sea voyage to the United States.

At Christmas in 1961 they arrived in San Fransisco having  crossed the Pacific, stopping at New Zealand, Fiji and Hawaii on the way. After spending some months in  California the journey continued east along the famous Route 66 to the Great Lakes. The last country on the list was Canada where they spent some months before finally arriving home at Christmas during the freezing winter of  1962-63.
